Manfrotto have just announced the launch of 290 Carbon - a new family of carbon fibre camera supports designed to accompany passionate new photographers as they progress and improve their skills.

At that level, no longer a beginner, but not (yet) earning a living from photography, it has always been difficult to find accessories and equipment that offer the right balance of performance, practicality and versatility: cheap "first tripods" are too flimsy and can't be upgraded, but professional tripods have too many features, too many options and are too much of an investment. The 290 Carbon range steps right in to fill the gap in the middle and support the aspiring photographer along the path from hobby to passion... or from obsession to profession.

Journeys to far-flung locations and spectacular holidays are often the triggers to taking photography more seriously, but it's notoriously difficult to find a tripod that's compact and light enough to travel, but stable enough to really help when you get to your destination.

Step into your passion for photography!

KEY BENEFITS

• Transportable, without any sacrifice in camera stability
• Durable and built for heavy-duty use, without any reduction in strength or performance over time
• Optimizable to help get great results across all photographic styles

Transportable, without any sacrifice in camera stability

The distinguishing technical feature of the 290 Carbon range is its use of “next-generation” carbon tubing: an innovative composite tube derived from Manfrotto’s experience in professional tripod construction, it uses optimized fiber angles to provide consistent advantages over aluminium tubing in terms of rigidity, lightness and stability.

Durable and built for heavy-duty use, without any reduction in strength or performance over time

Every feature of a 290 Carbon is built to last and to maintain performance throughout a long and useful life.

Manfrotto launch SYMPLA video rigs for HDSLRs and camcorders http://www.manfrotto.com/News+%26+Events/News/Manfrotto+launch+SYMPLA+video+rigs+for+HDSLRs+and+camcorders/23134315 http://www.manfrotto.com/News+%26+Events/News/Manfrotto+launch+SYMPLA+video+rigs+for+HDSLRs+and+camcorders/23134315 Wed, 04 Apr 2012 00:00:00 -0700 Sympla

Hybrid HDSLR cameras and ever-smaller pro camcorders are changing videography dramatically; yet along with the obvious advantages and opportunities presented by smaller, lighter cameras, come new problems to solve: as ENG camera operators use smaller cameras, and photographers are expected to shoot broadcast-quality video footage on their HDSLRs, both groups are finding that their camera equipment doesn’t have the ergonomic form for steady shoulder-mounted or hand-held footage; nor the attachment points for monitors, batteries, light-modifiers or accessories; nor the inherent weight that helps minimise camera shake. SYMPLA is Manfrotto’s solution to those problems: a professional modular video rig system that extends and complements new cameras, allows for stable support and framing, supports essential accessories features, offering versatility and high performance as well as comfort, safety and much simpler and faster set up than existing rigs.

SYMPLA is built for flexibility and speed, so you can change anything and everything easily and quickly: hand grip positions, counterbalance, camera body, lens, accessories, filters, light-shielding angle; shoulder-supported, hand-held, or tripod/monopod-mounted… whatever you need to get the shot, the second you need it. SYMPLA is quick to fine-tune, so even when you need to make changes to your rig on-location and mid-shoot, SYMPLA’s minimal locks and tool-free adjusters will let you get back to shooting quickly. Thanks to our revolutionary camera remotes which fit the rig handgrips, SYMPLA allows precise fingertip control of framing and camera functions without losing the grip position and keeping your eyes on the frame, helping you capture stable, usable, creative footage. And SYMPLA can quickly be extended: whether you start from one of our kits, or from single components, you can build the exact rig you need for the shot, as soon as you need it.

Manfrotto’s italian design cleans up at the Red Dot design Awards http://www.manfrotto.com/News+%26+Events/News/Manfrotto%E2%80%99s+italian+design+cleans+up+at+the+Red+Dot+design+Awards/22376741 http://www.manfrotto.com/News+%26+Events/News/Manfrotto%E2%80%99s+italian+design+cleans+up+at+the+Red+Dot+design+Awards/22376741 Thu, 15 Mar 2012 00:00:00 -0700

Manfrotto has won two prizes at the 2012 edition of one of the world most prestigious design competitions: the Red Dot Design Awards. The two Manfrotto winning products have been chosen by the international jury among a total of 4,515 projects, submitted by designers and companies from 58 countries.
According to the jury’s report, both Manfrotto products stood out for their unique and innovative design, wisely combined with technology and ease of use. In more detail:

  1. The SYMPLA Rig System, an innovative, beautiful modular solution for HDSLR’s and camcorders. Sympla, which will be presented for the first time at the forthcoming NAB Show in Las Vegas, has already raised great excitement within the industry: thanks to easier, safer and more comfortable usage, it just makes videographer’s life simpler.

  2. The MVK502AM System, an innovative telescoping video kit incorporating the MVH502A fluid head and the MVT502AM tripod. The system, featuring lightweight, compactness and unexpected sturdiness, already represents a game-change in design and technology for all professional videographers.

In addition, the Imaging & Staging Division of the Vitec Group – to which Manfrotto belongs – was awarded three further prizes. The winners’ awards ceremony is scheduled for 2 July 2012, at Aalto-Theater in Essen (Germany). This year’s gala, titled “Red Dot Award: Product Design”, is expected to be attended by more than 1,000 international guests from design, industry, politics and media.

Enchanting Iceland: Silence, thrilling experiences and colours http://www.manfrotto.com/News+%26+Events/News/Enchanting+Iceland%3A+Silence%2C+thrilling+experiences+and+colours/22163727 http://www.manfrotto.com/News+%26+Events/News/Enchanting+Iceland%3A+Silence%2C+thrilling+experiences+and+colours/22163727 Mon, 12 Mar 2012 00:00:00 -0700

If you think about it, there is something we have lost since the introduction of modern technologies: the use of our imagination. Today, we do not have to try and picture what a distant place can be like. Take one of those mythical-looking places we heard about from the few adventurous men, who wrote memorable works of ancient literature, or from those, who had the extraordinary chance to visit such a place. Iceland, as the name suggests, is a land of ice, although it is no longer possible to imagine this country only as a white island. Its northern atmosphere and inhospitable land have now become a popular tourist destination constantly receiving travellers. That is how we all learnt, that Iceland is a land full of contrasting elements, rather than an icy island: Iceland shows a continuous and dynamic coexistence between extreme heat and cold, and contrasting elements such as water and fire, the sea and geysers, volcanoes and – finally – ice.

At this point of our considerations, another illusion might turn up. When you think about travelling across Iceland, you cannot just imagine Ring Road – the highway that follows the whole coast of the island measuring 1,339 kilometres – even though, to tell the truth, it offers an excellent and soft way to begin your tour, if you are looking for the comfort found in the main cities, and if you are interested in its cultural aspects. On the other hand, if you think that Iceland is smaller than northern Italy, you will also have to leave any form of prejudice behind, as far as travelling times and ways are concerned, especially if you decide to hire a car, as most people do. As you head inland for a few kilometres, after crossing shallow rivers, mud and dirt roads, you will be able to sink into the most inhospitable side of Iceland. This is the side – to say it straight – people could have imagined a century ago, while reading a few yellowed pages of a book by an adventure novelist.

In Iceland, nature is not only magnificent, impressive and ancestral: it still shows an authentic aspect of its environment, which can be described with one word – an adjective, which is often used inappropriately – uncontaminated. It remained intact, pure. Iceland’s very peculiar geographic position – the island lies between the northern side of the Atlantic Ocean and the Greenland Sea, above a latitude of 65°N, but its weather is mitigated by the Gulf Stream – has made it an inhabitable land, and has also favoured a significant urban development process, which has involved, most of all, the areas close to the coastline. In the inland areas, instead, although a few villages exist and most of the country is provided with a wide public transport network serving also the central plateaus, the landscape is dominated – in the word’s most literal sense – by its primeval nature.

This description of Iceland makes it look more like it was when people first dreamt about it. Volcanoes erupting in the night – in Iceland, summer nights are not dark at all, as the sun hardly sets; – impressive waterfalls rushing down, over green moss and lichen – Glymur, the highest waterfall of the island, is situated in the western Iceland, and it is as many as one hundred and ninety metres high – hot water and intermittent steam erupting from geysers, in a barren and desert land. The Earth’s crust, in this area, is much closer to the surface than in other areas of the world, and for this reason, Iceland’s geothermal activity is intense. The Icelanders’ exceptional awareness of this environmental aspect has resulted in the widespread use of distribution plants providing cities with heating and electricity. Lakes, rivers and rocky formations originating from lava are authentic natural monuments, which also play a part in making the environment so spectacular – quite often, you will come across craters and volcanic ash; moreover, the not always merry “marriage” between the island’s eruptive activity and polar ice causes continuous geological changes.

All these spectacular phenomena are shown in the photo reportage printed within this article. We intentionally took a tour of the heart of Iceland to look at its innermost essence, even though our journey would have been impossible without an appropriate off-road vehicle and without drivers trained for any occurrence. Our crew had not chosen a specific destination: they just decided to head south. And they left from Langjökull, and they journey soon turned out to be like the adventure they had been imagined to experience, both because of the difficulties they had to face on off-road itineraries, that often involved shallow rivers, and because they had to travel on a Jeep – suitably provided with a sleeper cabin – to stay in tents, and to walk along trekking paths.

Then, they arrived in Landmannalaugar, in the south-western area of the country, north of the famous and just as hard to pronounce Eyjafjallajökull volcano which, in April 2010, generated an ash cloud so large that all across central and northern Europe from Iceland to Italy airports were closed, and air traffic was stopped.

Looking at Iceland’s map, our route would seem rather winding and pointless, if our purpose were not that of experiencing the deep solitude of some parts of Iceland, where you will not come across anyone for hours, or even for days, even if you do not travel too far away from the residential areas and from Iceland’s warm welcoming inhabitants.

Let us try and follow our heroes – you will need nerves of steel – as they explore this wild land worn away by the wind, where scattered bushes and spontaneous vegetation are at their best in summer, and where sandy expanses recall extraterrestrial landscapes, whereas contrastingly, moving towards the coast, everything looks very green. It sounds unbelievable, but before you get to the coastline, dotted with charming villages – such as Vik, the final destination of our journey – vast volcanic areas will appear, as well as hot water pools and streams, where you can rest from your tiring trip and enjoy a thermal bath surrounded by nature (a unique experience, that no spa resort in the world could offer). Everywhere else, all you see is yellow mountains – their colour indicates a high concentration of minerals, mostly rhyolite – but also pitch-black lava streams and rocks red with iron and copper; plateaus and rivers, offering new views at every step you take and, finally, the fifth highest waterfall of Iceland: the Skógafoss, which pushes away whoever gets too close with wind blasts, from the impressive height of sixty-two metres.

Proceeding southwards, a different landscape will soon catch your eye, as you see farms, Icelandic horses peacefully grazing and a few small villages announcing your destination: you are getting closer to the coast. Highway 1 will take you to Vik, situated at the foot of the above mentioned volcano, which became known across Europe. Vik is a farming village known for its wool – which was named after it – and most of its inhabitants are sheep farmers, even though the village is situated on the coast. As you cast one last look down the cliffs, you will enjoy an astonishing view over lava-rock arches, which were once touched by the sea. Today, they are natural wharves hanging over black beaches.

Nicola Cocco / How did you shoot : watchtower in clouds http://www.manfrotto.com/News+%26+Events/News/Nicola+Cocco+-+How+did+you+shoot+%3A+watchtower+in+clouds/22038995 http://www.manfrotto.com/News+%26+Events/News/Nicola+Cocco+-+How+did+you+shoot+%3A+watchtower+in+clouds/22038995 Wed, 07 Mar 2012 00:00:00 -0800

Empty spaces, nature greatness and good light are always a good mix to achieve a good shoot, that’s almost true if you like some aspect of the classical and emotive photography. I like to keep the “classical roots” in every picture as a base to build more “modern” or conceptual images like in that winter landscape I took at the sunset.

watchtower

I was over the top of a mountain near my town (Monte Grappa – Italy is about 1700mt) waiting the sunset and searching for some good subjects in the snow when clouds over the plains started getting more compact. About two hours before the sunset all the plains was covered by the clouds and that’s was a good situation to stay over the top waiting something happening. Most of the people thinks that the coincidences that brings to a good nature shoot (or event shoot) are ruled by luck or prime-time but at the end the real rule is that you have to figure out what is (or can be) happening due to be ready in the right place. So if you’re thinking that something is going to happen then take your time and wait, most of the time, if your feelings are right, you’ll be rewarded.

Back to our shoot, the start of the sunset painted all the clouds with a nice pink warm tones that were working beautifully with the strong blue of the lower landscape. Just before the end of the sunset a ray of light flashed the small watchtower church on the smaller mountain just in front of me. I decided to frame giving more space to the sky and the clouds surrounding the peak with the watchtower to get a more aerial and wide view landscape. It lasted about 6 minutes, but I was there , ready to take that beautiful landscape shoot.

The prizes were awarded to the following products:

MP3-D01

Photo-Movie Head
MH055M8-Q5

Compact Photo-Movie
MKC3-H01

Carbon Fiber Tripod
MT057C4

Magnesium Ball Head
MH054M0-Q2

The jury considered criteria such as design quality, finish, choice of materials, degree of innovation, environmental impact, functionality, ergonomics, visualization of intended use, safety, brand value, branding and aspects of universal design.

The significant results achieved at the IF Design Award 2012 by Manfrotto – and the Vitec Group in general – represent further recognition of the quality of Italian design: a success that the company is proud to share with the entire sector, which has been the emblem of Italian excellence around the world for years.

The award-winning products will be presented at the iF design exhibition Hannover, which will run in parallel to CeBIT (06 – 10 March 2012) at the Hannover exhibition center. Additionally, for the first time, the winning products will also be shown at the iF design exhibition Hamburg: right in the center of the new HarborCity, Hamburg offers a superb meeting point for the media and design industries and for everyone interested in design and architecture. And finally, the iF award winning entries will also travel to China to be presented at the iF design exhibition Hainan, one of the most attractive locations in China, both in terms of tourism and business.

All award winners from all four iF design awards 2012 will be published in March 2012 in a comprehensive and attractive reference books: the iF yearbook 2012.

The Manfrotto Imagine More Factories world tour is officially launched! http://www.manfrotto.com/News+%26+Events/News/The+Manfrotto+Imagine+More+Factories+world+tour+is+officially+launched%21/15984921 http://www.manfrotto.com/News+%26+Events/News/The+Manfrotto+Imagine+More+Factories+world+tour+is+officially+launched%21/15984921 Tue, 25 Oct 2011 00:00:00 -0700 The Manfrotto world tour has officially started from Beijing and Berlin and throughout 2012 it will bring will bring interactive photo labs dedicated to all photography fans, experts and amateurs alike, to the main squares of the world.
The opening stage in Beijing (October 14–16) – which in just three days registered over 20,000 hits – was followed by the great success of the appointment in Berlin (21–23 October) and will be followed by Hong Kong (November 4–6) and London (November 18–20) dates in 2011. In 2012 it will be the turn of Milan, New York, Paris and Tokyo. Manfrotto, the world leader in premium accessories for the photography and imaging industry, takes to the field and is installing real interactive photography laboratories in the squares of the world’s main capitals.

Set up in temporary spaces dedicated to the Imagine More Factories, the initiative offers the public of “social recorders” – photography enthusiasts who enjoy sharing their pictures on the web – the chance to grapple with all photography tools. At the structures, designed as real “factories for the imagination”, everyone will be able to test their skills and directly experience the excitement of photographing – and being photographed – in professional photo shoots. So far we have registered: over 800 participants in the Beijing factory and over 6.000 people in the Berlin date who completed the experience offered by Manfrotto Imagine More.

To encourage the sharing of experience within the Factories and create a truly global story, the pictures taken within each photo lab will be uploaded to the Manfrotto Imagine More International Facebook page (www.facebook.com/manfrotto.imagine. more), allowing all those who participated to share and comment on the photo shoots starring them.

The Imagine More Factories tour represents the culmination of the Imagine More Roadshow 2011, the “course” of events and initiatives developed by Manfrotto to promote imagination through images as a new universal meta-language.

The project started in May with a big party in New York and continued at the last Venice Film Festival in the presence of Violante Placido, with the presentation of a short movie directed by Bill Frakes and made with the texts and pictures of all the users who participated in the Imagine More international online competition. The initiative will be completed with the live encounter of “social recorders” in the main squares of the world. After Beijing and Berlin, it will go to Hong Kong (4–6 November) and London (18–20 November). In 2012 it will be the turn of Milan (Italy), New York (United States), Paris (France) and Tokyo (Japan).

The product joins our existing catalog of professional kits built around the premium 050 ball heads (MK057C3-M0Q5, 190CXPRO4-M0Q2, 190CXPRO4-M0Q2B).

The kits

These kits are made from magnesium and carbon fiber and represent the very best: lightweight, reliable and durable. When shooting, the ball head guarantees smooth movement, accuracy and precision. The kits are finished in a distinctive gray, or optionally in a special bronze version, 190CXPRO4-M0Q2B.

The MH055MO-Q5 ball head - greater precision and control

The MH055MO-Q5 ball head has high-tech features and is elegant and innovative in its design. Constructed from top quality materials, including new magnesium components, this fully-featured head offers heavy-duty performance from an improved, lightweight construction. Ultra-smooth movements for greater precision and control are guaranteed by a self-lubrication system. For ease of use when rotating the camera between landscape and portrait orientations, the head also allows the photographer to choose whether the ball stops at a perfect 90° angle or at 105-110° when compensating for uneven terrain underfoot.

The Manfrotto 055CXPRO4 4-Section Carbon Fiber Pro Tripod

The Manfrotto 055CXPRO4 4-Section Carbon Fiber Pro Tripod is extremely compact due to its 4-section legs. The leg sections are made from top-quality 100% carbon fiber tubing, and the carbon fiber center column is three-faceted to withstand the pressure of the locking system and to offer resistance to torsion, especially when used in the horizontal position with the camera’s weight off-center. The quick-action leg angle selector allows each leg to be set independently to one of four angle positions. The die-cast magnesium top spider, which also integrates a leveling bubble, features the renowned (and patented) Q90° Quick Center Column system that allows the central column to be positioned horizontally without removing the head or the column itself.

What was Manfrotto doing in Venice...?

The Venice Film Festival was the second milestone of the Manfrotto Imagine More Roadshow.

After the official launch from Manhattan’s skies in May, thanks to the net and the word of mouth of our most precious supporters – you, the Imagine More promise started spreading all over the world and collecting thousands and thousands of spontaneous submissions.

All this finally landed at one of the world most iconic event for all imagination enthusiasts: the 68. International Venice Film Festival.

In Venice, during an official event, Manfrotto released the “Imagine More Manifesto”, as the outcome of the reworking by director, photographer and Pulitzer prize-winning journalist Bill Frakes of the tweets and pics posted by online users within the international Imagine More Contest.

Being made by the direct contribution of Internet users, the film appears as the first user-generated short devoted to imagination.

The 12 winners, chosen for their originality and creativity among more than 12.000 interpretations of the imagination concept, were representative of seven different countries (US, UK, France, Germany, Italy, China and Hong Kong).

They were the true protagonist of the whole Venice experience, and for several reasons.

Not only their contributions were the pillars of the movie and not only they were awarded with a special edition of the Manfrotto Messenger Unica bag and Manfrotto compact tripod, but they had also the chance to personally meet celebrities like Bill Frakes and the Italian actress Violante Placido, beautiful godmother of the initiative since the NY launch.

Venice Film Festival Venice Film Festival

In addition, Manfrotto had also provided them a special pass allowing the entrance to the official photographers’ area: this way, they had the privilege of capturing world celebrities walking on the red carpet next to the Festival’s official photographers!

Venice Film Festival

Then, soon after the awarding ceremony, winners were admitted to the preview of one of the screenings in competition together with Bill Frakes, Violante Placido and Manfrotto top management.

Last but not least, to make the experience even more unforgettable, they were staying at one of the most elegant hotel of the Laguna: the Danieli Hotel, few steps from the beautiful San Marco’s square.

Here some comments left on our Facebook page by some of the protagonists of this experience:

Jana Benjamin Navrátilová So proud to be a part of this!

Marion Ruszniewski Yeah thank you so much, the film is really great and the music too, good job ! and I’m proud to be part of this too !

Manfrotto sponsored Bike Ride funds education for children in Zambia http://www.manfrotto.com/News+%26+Events/News/Manfrotto+sponsored+Bike+Ride+funds+education+for+children+in+Zambia/14939543 http://www.manfrotto.com/News+%26+Events/News/Manfrotto+sponsored+Bike+Ride+funds+education+for+children+in+Zambia/14939543 Thu, 29 Sep 2011 00:00:00 -0700 From May 20th to 29th, Manfrotto supported the non-profit organization African Revival by taking part in a challenging bike ride through Zambia, raising much needed money for a number of different African Revival projects.

A group of cyclists from different corners of the country joined forces to tackle the grueling trek from Lusaka to Victoria Falls. The group set off from Mazabuka village and cycled 500km down dirt roads, past sugar plantations and ancient baobab trees. On some days covering over 100km, they were relieved to find tarmac road rather than the dry sandy tracks that made progress such a challenge.

The gang travelled through many Zambian villages, always followed closely behind by a band of local kids with a look of sheer elation at the sight of 26 sweaty westerners passing through.

“Of course the main highlight was the welcome we got wherever we went but particularly at the schools which we all found quite emotional in our own ways,” said one of the riders Ian Holden.

The event was organised by African Revival, a charity that works to provide education opportunity and choice to communities across Africa. The charity currently has several projects underway in Uganda and Zambia, some of which the cyclists had the chance to visit themselves.

“The schools were uplifting even if they only scratch the surface. You have to start somewhere and for the children in those classes this education could bring a significant increase in life expectancy and quality for themselves and their future families,” said Ed Spencer, Manfrotto UK's Customer Service Manager, who kept a daily diary of his experiences during the ride.

African Revival is a UK charity that has been working with schools to enhance education in Africa for over five years. They are working intensively with 18 primary schools in Zambia and Uganda, improving the quality of education for over 5,000 pupils. Their aim is to break the cycle of poverty for some of the world’s poorest children and future generations.

Grateful for the support of Manfrotto and the staggering commitment of the participants, African Revival is delighted to have received over £68,000 which will go to the projects in Zambia.

Kasizi school caters for 480 students and previously only had three classrooms. Now the students and the entire community will be delighted to see the construction of three new classrooms and another two-classroom block.

Matondo Community School, situated 25 km from Kalomo Town, has over 300 students from four surrounding villages and numerous small settlements who are taught by only three teachers in three incomplete classrooms.  It is very encouraging to see the numbers of students increasing, however, this places great pressure on the school’s limited infrastructure.  Thanks to the Bike Ride, pupils can look forward to the building of a new classroom block.

The group of intrepid cyclists are on a high from their experience and are already talking about an event for 2012!

Manfrotto 509HD System http://www.manfrotto.com/News+%26+Events/News/Manfrotto+509HD+System/8845799 http://www.manfrotto.com/News+%26+Events/News/Manfrotto+509HD+System/8845799 Mon, 13 Jun 2011 00:00:00 -0700

The Manfrotto video solution combines ergonomics and exclusive design with professional performances for extra smooth shooting control.
Cross over to the new dimension of film making.

Manfrotto, market leader in the light videocamera and photographic supports, is enlarging the BRIDGING FLUID HEADS FAMILY launching a new video system developed specifically for the heavier camcorders, the new 3D rigs, and matching all the video accessories.
The 509HD Systems are the result of an important technical evolution - the perfect synthesis between an innovative “bridge architecture” and Manfrotto’s cutting edge engineering: Bridging Technology - an exclusive Manfrotto patent. Thanks to the 509HD’s bridge design, the PAN friction control is intuitive and easy to set, but also protected against knocks. Movement around the PAN and TILT axes is smoothed by ball-bearing units which remove all unwanted vibration, no matter what the operating temperature. Friction control combines with a step counterbalance system (covering the full weight range of video equipment) to allow the 509HD to be fine-tuned with extreme precision for the exact in-shot movements you need. The 509HD’s FDS (Fluid Drag System) is variable and directly controls action and resistance on both axes; the ergonomics of the controls have been noticeably improved to make use of the FDS even easier. All of this guarantees ultimate control and excellent video camera support, no matter what the situation, the shooting style, or the equipment setup. The load capacity has also been improved: the 509HD supports kit up to 13kg (28,8lb) at 55mm c.o.g and two 3/8” threads on the top plate allow accessories, such as monitors and arms, to be fitted straight to the head, thus eliminating the need for extra clamps, saving set-up time and freeing the video camera’s hot shoe for other components.
The Manfrotto 509HD is itself a bridge, helping the professional videographer reach ever-better results, enabling your potential and leading ambitions on towards new challenges. The Manfrotto 509HD systems give you the advantage of total stability and fluidity. An advantage which allows you to go further, towards more dynamic, eye-opening and creative video.

Manfrotto to support non-profit organisation African Revival http://www.manfrotto.com/News+%26+Events/News/Manfrotto+to+support+non-profit+organisation+African+Revival/9744933 http://www.manfrotto.com/News+%26+Events/News/Manfrotto+to+support+non-profit+organisation+African+Revival/9744933 Mon, 09 May 2011 00:00:00 -0700 Manfrotto will support the non-profit organization African Revival taking part in a challenging bike ride through Zambia. From May 20th to 29th 2011 26 cyclists, including Manfrotto UK's Customer Service Manager Ed Spencer (pictured right), will ride from Lusaka to Livingstone raising much needed money for a number of different African Revival projects.

Zambia Bike Challenge
is a 500km journey across rich wetlands and scenic splendour, ending at the breathtaking Victoria Falls. The route, which is made up of a combination of dirt, tar and sandy roads over various terrains, takes participants from Lusaka to Livingstone in just seven days.

Manfrotto, as the key sponsor of the event, will help enable those cyclists to see the incredible work being carried out by the charity and celebrate that achievement back home.
African Revival works in Zambia, Uganda and Sudan with a vision to give childrenaccess to education, opportunity and choice. The charity builds schools, provides training and support for teachers, overcomes barriers to education and enhances performance in the classroom.

An educated community will be able to make better decisions. African Revival supports schools in rural communities in the hope of increasing economic earning power, reducing infant mortality rates, lowering HIV infection rates, whilst contributing to sustainable development.

Yet tens of millions of children in sub-Saharan Africa are not in school - and 80% of those children live in rural areas. By offering education, opportunity and choice to Africa's children we aim to break the cycle of poverty that restricts Africa's development.

African Revival works in partnership with rural communities who, despite having very little themselves, are committed to giving their children a bright future. Working with schools over a three to five year period, the organization aim to turn desperately under resourced schools into thriving centres of learning, to serve the children of today and for generations to come.

As a company at the forefront of development and innovation, Manfrotto shares the same values of excellence as African Revival. In supporting the work of this organization, Manfrotto is helping to deliver sustainable development in African communities that are able to grow and thrive with their support.

Ed Spencer wants to make a difference - please do what you can to help him in this cause. Visit: www.justgiving.com/zambiaed for more information.

Manfrotto Bags are excited to announce the launch of the new STILE Bag Collection.
With this new collection we have set out to create fantastically stylish bags that will suit the everyday digital lifestyle and accommodate digital media gear.

“Like all good things the Manfrotto STILE Bag Collection started with a great story, the story of the incredible 21st century digital revolution... Today It seems natural for all of us to own mobile phones, laptops, digital cameras, mp3 players, GPSs, tablets, e-readers and much, much more, but only 10 years ago most of us couldn’t have imagined the existence of half of these products or envision what the other half would look like down the line. And none of us could have predicted our reliance on such products to support our daily life styles and guide our social activities and interactions” says Mr. Fabio Prada, Manfrotto Bags Line Manager: "For us at Manfrotto the most interesting aspect of this digital revolution story pivots on the world of imagery. We started out in the world of professional photography and feel privileged to be able to still be relevant after more than 40 years in the field."

Photography in the digital era has become accessible to all, allowing us to engage, document and share experiences visually. Instantaneous updating on social networks enhances our experiences and adds a new meaningful layer to our photography. We no longer only want to capture and cherish a moment, we want to share and communicate a variety of experiences and activities with our friends and families. This new lifestyle means that we are increasingly seeking knowledge and tools which will help us create more skillful and attractive photos.

So with the digital social photographers 'framed' as our users, our incredible heritage in the traditional photo world, our history of fine craftsmanship and superb functionality 'in the bag' and our passionate team, we set out to storm the photo bag world and are proud to introduce the STILE Collection.

STILE is Italian for style and we believe that Manfrotto STILE Collection is destined to become synonymous with stylish photo bags!

Manfrotto Bags are proud to announce the launch of the new premium LINO Bag and Apparel Collections.

“LINO Collection came to life with a breakthrough concept of combining two product families; bags & apparel, into a comprehensive system that would offer photographers a brand new luxury photo accessory category and work in unison with key Manfrotto tripods and heads” says Mr. Fabio Prada, Manfrotto Bags Line Manager.

In fine Italian style and in keeping with traditional tailor made practices the highest quality materials were handpicked and specifically matched to each product, down to the smallest detail, and each feature was meticulously designed to correspond with its functionality and aesthetics. Thus LINO Bags and Apparel harmoniously complement each other both in style and functionality and present to the photographic market a unique and luxurious product proposition that simply did not exist beforehand.

With LINO Bags it isn’t just the founder’s name that links the collection to the Manfrotto photo tripods & heads products category, in fact, one of the “must have” features in the bags is to provide a dedicated tripod carrying solution so that the camera support heritage is realized as an important factor in the overall design concept.

With LINO Apparel Manfrotto is blazing a new trail in the photographic world with the introduction of the first ever full apparel line dedicated to professional photographers. For the first time both male and female photographers will find that it is possible to look great and still enjoy functional work wear that enhances the working experience.

LINO Bags and Apparel are designed to be objects of desire that will work hard day in and day out,
supporting your imagination.
